LEROY WINS BBC TV TALENT CONTEST
October 16th, 2010

Leroy Vickers, classical singer and tenor competed and won against three other professional entertainers on CBBC’s entertainment show, The Slammer, the only TV talent show for professional artistes.

The Show

Performing Nessun Dorma as feisty Italian opera singer, Frederico Forte, Leroy wowed the audience and beat the other entertainers with an impressive, almost maximum score on the clapometer!

Children’s entertainment show, The Slammer, is set in a mock prison and a group of entertainers are the prisoners. Part of the programme features the comic goings-on of the daily prison routine and later four of the acts perform for their freedom in front of a live studio audience.

In this episode the prison has problems with its electricity and the show may be cut short, however thanks to Leroy’s impressively powerful voice the Slammer’s generators are restocked, allowing the ‘show to go on’. Frederico Forte (Leroy) sang his heart out and generated enough power for the entire prison.

After a truly electrifying performance of Nessun Dorma the young studio audience couldn’t help but show their enthusiasm, making sure Leroy won the event and his freedom!

November
November 26th, 2009

What a busy month!

November has seen me performing outside to over 2,000 people at the Christmas Lights switch-on in Doncaster to performing Nessun Dorma in front of an audience of 800 people at the Hull City Hall for a charity event.

I have been interviewed on BBC Radio Humberside and Trax FM  and my original track ‘Luciano‘, a tribute to my inspiration Luciano Pavarotti, has been receiving some great air time.

Thanks to everyone who has come along to see me perform and December promises to be even busier!

The St Leger Ladies Day Doncaster 2009

Ladies at The St Leger 2009
St Leger Doncaster 2009

Hi guys

It was a great gig in Regents Park, Doncaster for The St Leger Ladies Day 2009. A sunny late afternoon, the ladies kicked off their heels and danced the night away and a two hour show turned into three – they would not let me leave!

Apart from the modern numbers, Bring Him Home from Les Miserable was requested twice and of course the audience was happy with Nessun Dorma to finish the evening.

Thanks to everyone who came and for making it such a special event.

Charity Music Festival
August 24th, 2009

The Freedom for Children Music Festival took place at The Freedom Centre, Hull on Saturday 22 August and was a great success. Caroline Seymour as Madonna impressed the crowds in the afternoon and I performed both solo and with my partner Ric Owen (Opera 2 Unity) at the Classical Concert in the evening.

Thanks to everyone who came and helped us to raise money for local children’s charities.
